Are you about to enroll into Medicare for the first time?
Here is something you need to consider with regard to Medicare costs. Medicare determines your premium for Part B and any additional Part D charges based off of your income from two years prior.
For this demonstration we will be going off of 2017 numbers. Both of the charts can be found on Medicare.gov website.

These figures will change in 2018. Those figures will come out around October. Please keep this in mind when figuring your expenses for Medicare.
The Part D Income Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (Part D IRMAA) is an additional charge Social Security charges for Part D. You will not pay the extra money to the plan directly; you will be charged by Social Security. All of the figures are based off of 2017. Please see the chart below.
