Who Are You Talking To?

Are you talking to an agent or a salesman?

There are a lot of people calling seniors and promising the world, in order to get them to enroll into a Medicare policy with them. There are some great people out there that are actual agents and not salesmen. They genuinely care about their clients and are interested in them as people and truly value and appreciate the relationship they have with them. Then, there is the other side. I am sure you have spoken to them, they are pushy, rude, and it is obvious you are only out there to make a buck.

Please do not get me wrong, I am in this business to provide for my family. I enjoy this business and helping people get the right plan for them. If I know there is a better option for them that I cannot offer them, I gladly tell them about that option and let them know who they need to call in order to get it. No deal is worth my integrity and I will always do right by my clients, and potential clients as well. I cannot help everybody, but I believe in doing right by anyone I am fortunate to talk to about Medicare. I think we need a bit more civility in this crazy world and I live by the golden rule, treat others as you would treat yourself. Simple but forgotten nowadays, isn’t it? I am getting off track here.

An agent is going to answer their phone when you call and find out what your questions or concerns you are having, and provide a solution or answer. A salesman will tell you to call the insurance company. An agent is going to explain in simple terms what options you have available to you and clearly go over the pros and cons of each option. A salesman is going to present the highest price plan available to you and try to get you to buy it, if that fails go to the next highest policy. An agent is going to let you take your time to make sure you are making the right decision for you; you are the most important part of this equation after all. A salesman is going to pressure you and tell you there is a limited time offer and talk down to you and basically insult you and your intelligence. An agent is going to call you after the fact and let you know they are there when you need them and answer any questions you have about the policy. A salesman will only call you when he needs to make a dollar. An agent cares about you and building a relationship and hopefully it turns into a friendship. A salesman has his eye on your wallet.

There is a difference in an agent and a salesman, which would you prefer to do business with, I know where I fall. If you have any questions at all, even if you have signed up with someone else please call me and let me answer that question for you. 803-851-0219. I look forward to speaking with you, if you are new to Medicare or have been on it for a while, I am here to help. As my grandfather always said, “The only stupid question is the one you do not ask.”

All the best,

Randy
