How About Those Vaccines?

Hello all,

We hope all is well in your world.

Some of you may be retiring soon and taking that well-deserved dream vacation overseas. One of the things you need to check off your list is an up-to-date vaccination record.

Medicare is very particular when it comes to what is covered and by whom. Some of the vaccines are going to fall under Part B and some will need to be billed to your Part D. I have included a brochure from CMS to clear some things up.

Part B covered vaccines:

  • Hepatitis B if you are high or immediate risk.

  • Pneumococcal pneumonia vaccine.

  • Flu shot.

  • A vaccine related to a condition or injury.

All your other vaccines are going to fall under Part D and the vaccines work differently than your normal medications you get at the pharmacy. The provider can charge administering fees, which means you may be required to pay the cost upfront and then submit a claim for reimbursement.

I know this can be confusing, but that is why we are here. Please click the link below from CMS and let us know if you have any questions.

As always, do something nice for someone today just because.

All the best,

Randall Lawson
